Here are answers to the questions we hear most often. Don't see yours? Send us a booking inquiry and we'll be happy to help.
Can we fish in the pond?
Yes! Guests are welcome to fish in the pond behind the house. The pond is shared with neighboring properties, so please be respectful of others while fishing. Fishing is at your own risk.
Are there fish in the pond?
Yes. While the pond is not professionally stocked, guests have caught fish including largemouth bass, bluegill, and catfish.
Is fishing gear provided?
No, please bring your own rods, tackle, and bait. If you'd rather have everything handled for you, book a guided trip on Lake Texoma (see below).
Can we swim in the pond?
No. Swimming and wading in the pond are not permitted. For swimming, Lake Texoma has several beaches just a short drive away. The pond area is also not lit, so please use caution at dusk and after dark.
Where is the closest beach?
Washita Point Beach Access, at the end of Washita Point Rd in Kingston, is just a 2 to 3 minute drive from the house. It's a natural, quiet shoreline with limited facilities, fewer crowds, and beautiful sunrise views.
Is there a sandy beach with restrooms?
Yes. Lake Texoma State Park (1988 State Park Rd, Kingston) has a designated sandy swim beach at Ben’s Campground, with restrooms and showers nearby. Burns Run West near Cartwright is another family-friendly option with a beach, restrooms, showers, and picnic areas. There are no lifeguards on duty at area beaches.
What should we bring for a beach day?
Beach towels, chairs, water, and sunscreen. Water levels and shoreline size change with the seasons, and parking fills up fast on holiday weekends, so arrive early.
Where can we rent a boat?
Alberta Creek Resort & Marina is the closest, about 5 minutes from the house (9040 Clear Lake Dr, Kingston, 580-564-2552). They offer boat rentals, a fuel dock, and a convenience store with firewood. Other nearby options are Catfish Bay Marina inside Lake Texoma State Park (580-564-2307) and Little Glasses Resort & Marina in Madill (580-795-2068). We recommend calling ahead, especially on summer weekends and holidays.
Can we bring our own boat?
Absolutely. There's room for up to 4 vehicles or trailers on the property, and boats, kayaks, and paddleboards are welcome as long as they stay on the driveway. Please drive slowly when pulling in with a trailer. RVs and oversized trailers need prior approval.
Can we book a guided fishing trip on Lake Texoma?
Yes! Lake Texoma is famous for striped bass, and several local guide services launch from Alberta Creek and Catfish Bay marinas. Most provide all equipment and bait, so you just bring your fishing license and a cooler. Guides book up quickly from March through September, so reserve early. You'll find our recommended guides in the digital guidebook we send before your stay.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is after 4:00 PM and check-out is before 11:00 AM.
How many guests can stay?
Texoma Rose Retreat sleeps up to 8 guests in three bedrooms.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes! Up to 2 dogs are welcome with a $200 pet fee, disclosed at booking. There's no weight limit or breed restriction, and a fenced dog area is available. Other animals are not permitted.
Is firewood provided?
Firewood is not provided. You can pick some up at Catfish Bay Marina on your way in.
